Decision Time

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

We’ve had some fun with our links this year and hope our regular readers have enjoyed them - from sports sites to music videos to recipes to, well, more random offerings. Feel free to visit the Link of the Week archive. Please skip the posts predicting an outstanding season for the Eagles.

But now it’s time for what it’s all been about: Election Day. If you are looking for information about me and have some serious time to kill, you can see my hour-long candidate profile by WHYY Channel 12 (you’ll need RealPlayer). If you are supporting me (P.S. - Thanks!) and want to help get out the vote for me and our Democratic team on November 4, please volunteer and we’ll plug you in to our efforts. Or if you are just itching to go vote, you can find your polling place.

A C-SPAN Audio Clip, Two Saxophones And A Dream

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Barack Obama has inspired plenty of songs and videos, from the well-known, like will.i.am and Obama Girl, to the, well, not. Like this group of middle-age guys calling themselves the Monday Night All-Stars performing a jazz tribute to our Democratic presidential nominee’s issue positions. Not to be left out, I challenge Delaware’s garage bands and aspiring songwriters to set to music my idea to direct a greater portion of education spending into the classroom.

Catch The Phever

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

For all you Phillies fans (and all of you who need to suddenly get caught up now that they are in playoffs), Phillies Nation offers somewhat obsessive coverage of the team, including a seven-part pre-analysis of the matchup with the Brewers.

Blasts From The Past

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

As recently featured on Slate.com’s weekly political wrapup podcast, livingroomcandidate.org features presidential campaign ads from the last 50 years, including one from 1960 with a catchy tune about John Kennedy (”A man who’s old enough to know but not too young to do”) and one from 1988, just after George H.W. Bush chose Dan Quayle as his running mate, reminding voters that one in five vice presidents in history have become president.

Joe TV

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

biden-video.jpgEven before the big announcement, someone gave Joe Biden a treatment once accorded only to names like Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and Bananarama. Here’s a video of Joe speaking at last year’s Iowa Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, done in the style of VH1’s Pop-Up Video. (For those of you too young to remember the late 90s, there is a Wikipedia entry about Pop-Up Video, which should stand as monument to the internet’s simultaneous vast extent and sheer ridiculousness.)

Draincam

Check out this replay of the USA men swim team’s amazing come-from-behind victory in the 400-meter freestyle relay — shot entirely from underwater.

Yep, That About Sums It Up

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

This video pretty much encapsulates what I’ve been dealing with for the last three-and-a-half years as insurance commissioner.

Summer Reruns

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

The Link of the Week (or Link of the Whenever-We-Get-Around-To-It, as it should perhaps be called) is taking a break. But for a trip down memory lane, here’s a link to all our previous Links Of The Week in order for everyone to get caught up.

“We all have these places where shy humiliations gambol on sunny afternoons.” –W.H. Auden

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

The Dover Post’s coverage of my announcement tour described Adam and Zach as “gamboling” around the podium during my speech. According to Bartleby.com, the reference website I often use for words and quotes, to gambol means “to leap about playfully” and synonyms include caper, cavort, frisk, frollick, rollick and romp. You are now free to sprinkle it into your conversations this week.
